Stephen Brooke has a B.A. (Hons) degree in Traditional Acupuncture, Licentiate in Acupuncture and is a member of the British Acupuncture Council. All members are bound by the BAcC’s Code of Ethics and Safe-Practice and are fully insured.
Stephen has been practising Acupuncture for 12 years, following his three year training at the College of Traditional Acupuncture in Leamington Spa. Although Acupuncture has achieved a reputation in the West for its ability to relieve pain (chronic and acute), Stephen has found that it is also very effective at dealing with some conditions where drug therapy and other Western interventions are less successful. He believes that there is a growing need for a system of medicine that can bridge the gap between the mental/emotional aspects of people’s lives and their physical symptoms. To this end, Stephen particularly enjoys working with people to help them achieve a better quality of life. Stephen is committed to both his personal and professional development. He is a Bon Practitioner (Buddhist meditation practice), has taught Tai Chi and Qi Gong and has a post-graduate diploma in the theory and practice of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading.
"I went to see Stephen for lower back and sciatica caused by my pregnancy and acupuncture helped to ease the pain and regain my mobility. Stephen was very professional and made me feel instantly at ease. He always explained what he was doing and was happy to answer all of my questions. I would have no hesitation in recommending his service to anyone who wanted to explore alternative treatments." - MH (Marlborough)
"I was personally recommended to Stephen after months of feeling tired and lacking in energy. I thought acupuncture might be worth a try... but with a certain amount of trepidation as I'm not a huge fan of needles and I didn't understand how it worked! Stephen was brilliant; he understood my concerns and explained exactly what he was going to do. Not only did he re-energise me he also uncovered an increase in my blood pressure, which he swiftly dealt with and finally repaired my left elbow, which had hurt like hell when I tried to pick up my young daughter. Six months later I can happily report I am still full of energy, my blood pressure is normal and my elbow works perfectly. Thanks very much Stephen." - IK (Devizes)
"Stephen - the eighth wonder of the world!!!! I was not sleeping, suffering with headaches and had extremely painful and heavy periods causing stress and fatigue. Stephen helped me get my health and life back on track. I looked forward to our sessions not only for the treatment he provided, but also for the positive energy that he exudes. Thank you Stephen for giving me back my life." - JS (Great Cheverell)
"I first consulted Stephen when in great pain with a badly trapped nerve, and desperate after doctors had failed to help effectively. During the treatment he explained that Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, although useful as treatment for acute pain, was beneficial as therapy to promote overall health, and he asked me if he might treat me in this way. I actually took little notice of this, but agreed, pressing him simply to get rid of my pain. The pain control worked. But what brought me back to see him again was the fact that, right from the first session, he had helped me with some serious underlying health issues. At that time my kidney transplant was 10 years old and its function deteriorating, in spite of my doctors best efforts to halt the decline with changes to my medication. After 2 acupuncture treatments the decline was halted and reversed: I remain convinced that Stephen's treatment played a significant part in this. I sought his help when I was desperate, prepared to try anything, but totally sceptical: I came back, convinced that this amazing and unlikely of treatments actually works."
